The Cactus and Succulent Society of WA has been meeting since 1953, with the aim of advancing and encouraging the cultivation of cacti and other succulent plants. Collectively members of the Society possess an extensive and diverse range of experience, which they generously share. This covers such areas as soil mixtures, potting techniques, propagation methods, watering regimes, pest and disease control, naming of plants, obtaining and maintaining plants from seed through to maturity – over a huge range of genera.
The Society maintains an impressive library for the use of members. It also organises visits, competitions, shows and other educational and social activities for its members. Every two years it either participates in, or hosts, gatherings of all Australian Cactus and Succulent Societies (called Succulenticons).
